Polarized sunglasses Print E-mail
Polarized sunglasses are
glasses that have a specific function such as absorbing the reflected
light. Polarized sunglasses are specially designed to absorb the sun
glare that comes from flat surfaces such as highways, water or snow.
These glasses absorb almost 97 percent of the total glare. The
polarized sunglasses are not mere fashion accessories, but are also
safety devices that can be used by skiers, divers, water sportsmen and
navigators. Among all the surfaces, white snow and shimmering water
create tremendous glare. Sometimes, even long stretches of road provide
such glares. The human iris has a natural tendency to become narrow so
as to block bright light but during such bright glares, the iris is
unable to do anything. The first polarized lenses were introduced by
Edwin H. Land in the year 1936.Ordinary light propagates in all
directions in the form of waves. Polarized sunglasses have the
inclination of polarizing light. Owing to this they result in light
vibration in a particular direction. Surfaces that emit glares exhibit
paralleled polarized light. Polarized sunglasses have vertical
polarization so that they block most of the incident light and minimize
the glares. This can reduce the amount of damage that can occur to the
human eye. Polarized lenses are made with polycarbonates or by a
synthetic plastic like CR-39 and have a polarization filter enclose
within it. These polarization filters are made of materials that align
the molecule vertically. Polarization sunglasses are good for anti-
glare purposes, and even as general trendy wear they bring appreciative
glances. Authentic polarized sunglasses are expensive than ordinary
sunglasses. Replica sunglasses can be identified by rotating the
sunglass in a particular direction. Original polarized sunglasses make
the light change in direction or intensity. It is always best to spend
a little more and buy a real polarized sunglass. Polarized sunglasses
are appropriate from vision disorders such as prebyopia or
hypermetropia. These sunglasses help such people to enjoy the thrills
of life such as adventure sports. Polarized sunglasses have their own
disadvantages. People who use polarized sunglasses find it difficult to
notice relief feature features on snow as the glasses block most of the
light rays reflected from the snow. This disadvantage becomes very
dangerous in thin snow. Polarized sunglasses also make LCD screens
virtually invisible as LCD screens also emit polarized light. Due to
the technological advancements in polarized sunglasses, they are priced
more than normal sunglasses.
